The province of Balikesir borders both the Marmara and Aegean regions. In case of the capital city of Balikesir, interesting historical sites and nature in harmony. The center-l4 century Yildirim Mosque, built by Beyazit I, the city is the oldest mosque. Belkis (Cyzicus) lies ten kilometers west of Bandirma. In this ancient city on the Peninsula, which face the isthmus, the Temple of Hadrian, a theater and aqueducts still stand to enchant. The Kuscenneti National Park near Lake Manyas is an ornithological site where 239 different species of birds get to fly flourish.Every years over three million birds on them. April and May are the best months to enjoy the wildlife. Thirteen kilometers southeast of Bandirma in Karacabey, race stables magnificent specimens of this beloved creature. Formerly known as old Erteka, Erdek is only 14 km northwest of Bandirma. One of the Sea of Marmara, the oldest and most famous resort areas, it offers pristine beaches and every type of accommodation. Olive groves cover Zeytinli Iceland, off Erdek Bay, quaint cafes and tea gardens enchant visitors. |
