Celsus LibraryA visit to Efes (Ephesus) – once the commercial center of the ancient world – is a highlight of any trip to Turkey. The city, whose wealth and patronage supported its splendid architectural program was dedicated to the goddess Artemis. Their enormous temple, once considered one of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world and rebuilt several times, dates in its latest form from the third century BC

The ruins include a theater, gymnasium, agora and baths, as well as the Library of Celsus, which is the nearby town of Selcuk of a Byzantine citadel, near the basilica of the 6th Century by St. John on the grounds of the built-in stands dominated apostle’s grave. The 14th Century Isa Bey Mosque, in addition to the basilica is accessed through its typical Seljuk portal. The Archaeological Museum houses an impressive collection of statues and other finds recovered during the excavations of Ephesus. The nearby Turkish Bath Museum in the 16th Century built, shows life at the Turkish Hamam (bath). The Ephesus International Festival each year in May.

Virgin MaryIt is recorded that St. John brought the Virgin Mary in Ephesus after the death of Christ, and that their last days in a small house (Meryemana Evi) built for them on Bulbuldagi (Mt. Koressos). Now a popular place of pilgrimage for Christians and Muslims, the house has received the official approval of the Vatican, and Christians observe a commemoration ceremony every year on 15 August.
Selcuk, near Camlik TCDD is a open-air museum steam locomotives. 9 km east of Selcuk is Sirince, for its traditional village from the 19th Century known houses, some of which were converted into guest houses.Wine is, in this small hill Turkish village, which is like a self-produced open-air museum. 18 km from Selcuk are wine-houses, for the tasting of the wines.
