If you travel to Turkey, remember: Turkey is big: 1700 km (1056 miles) from east to west, when you travel by car, a trip of several days.

But you can from Istanbul (west) fly to Erzurum (east) on Turkish Airlines (TK, THY) in about two hours for a one-way fare of as little as TL79, if you buy your ticket in advance. Most other TK domestic flights cost between TL69 and TL200.

Because of the way international flights structured so it is often much cheaper your Turkish domestic flights within Turkey topurchase than in your home country. A good Turkish travel agency you can book your flight for you, and get the tickets for you, usually free of charge for you.

You can also buy your tickets directly at a Turkish airport, but with Turkish tourism booming, there may be no seats left on the plane. Advance booking is recommended if you are a very flexible travelers. The further in advance you buy your ticket, the cheaper it is likely to be.

Onur Air has a rapidly growing list of domestic flights with fares as low as TL69 per flight. I have flown with satisfaction.

Other low-fare airlines are Turkish Atlasjet, IZair, Pegasus Airlines and Sun Express.EasyJet flies from the United Kingdom to Turkey.

Sun Express, a Turkish-German joint venture, flies from Austria, Germany and Switzerland, Turkey, and Turkey from Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport Adana, Antalya, Diyarbakir, Erzurum, Kayseri (for Cappadocia), Konya, Trabzon and Van .

Turkish Airlines is a competent national airline with good service, a young fleet, worldwide routes and domestic connections to all major Turkish city.
