Trains between Istanbul (Haydarpasa station) and Ankara (Ankara Station) are the best in Turkey. Most are quick, convenient and cheap.
The faster, the train, the higher the tariff.
(Note that each “train” is actually two: one leaves Istanbul and Ankara, the other leaves at or near the same time, position to the other city.)

Trains depart from Istanbul Haydarpasa station on the Asian side of the Bosphorus to the other Anatolian Ankara and destinations.
Trains depart from Istanbul Sirkeci station to go on the Golden Horn to Edirne and Europe.
